Facial Skin Peels
There is probably no better place on earth than San Diego for getting a wide variety of skin peels. There are many salons that offer skin peels in San Diego. The chemical peel is almost always the same procedure whether or not you are going for the deep, medium or light peels.
Skin peels in San Diego accomplish a multitude of things including the diminishment of fine wrinkles and lines and just the rejuvenation of the skin in general. A chemical peel helps people look fresher, glowing and more youthful.
All kinds of facial imperfections can be erased using these treatments. Skin peels in San Diego use an acidic solution to remove the top layers of your skin. This gets rid of dull, flaky skin and minimizes imperfections.
You need to be careful when you select the chemical peel as not all types are right for all types of skin. In fact a dermatologist may not recommend peels at all if you have sensitive skin. Depending on the type of peel that you get you may or may not need sedation.
If you have a light or medium peel no sedation is required. These peels only remove the top skin layers and the recovery time is minimal. You can also get medium peels which remove more layers of skin and have more polished, effective results.
Skin peels are also frequently used to relieve hyperpigmentation. Glycolic as well as alpha and beta hydroxy acid skin peels are used to break up the outer surfaces of the skin. The cost of skin peels average $150 and more per peel.
An efficient treatment would normally require between 4 and 6 peels for maximum results. Light treatments and skin peels are also beneficial for getting rid of skin wrinkles.
The Different Types of Skin Peels
A skin peel is a chemical process whereby a layer of damaged skin is removed from the face by chemical reaction and replaced by a newer, healthier layer. The chemical peel process works by applying a solution to the skin that chemically kills the outermost, damaged layer of the epidermis.
This layer of dead skin then sloughs off the facial area over a prescribed time revealing healthier skin below. Croton oil peels are the most aggressive peels used by most medical professionals. These peels are very potent and can be used for the removal of wrinkles, skin blotches and so on.
In fact, these peels are so aggressive they have been reported to actually remove cancerous legions in the skin. The downside is the peel can cause massive lightening of your skin. They also can be painful and the peeling process is very dramatic.
Trichloracetic Acid peels, better known as TCA, are a popular chemical peel for a particular reason. TCA peels tend to work without causing any discoloration when the new layer of skin is revealed. The peel sets and then is removed. Over the next three to 10 days, the outer layer of skin will die off and peel away to reveal healthier skin.
The simples and most basic of peels is the AHA peel. A type of hydroxy acid, this peel is will give your skin a tune up, but does not treat the underlying issues that caused the skin problems.
Determining whether you need a skin peel is something you should do in consultation with a dermatologist. Peels can improve your skin, but you need to understand both the process and the reasonable results you can expect. Not all peels do the same thing.
